Every time I see a US restaurant chain try to force Bitcoin on their customers... Stablecoins are for payments, not BTC. Ethereum is the preferred network for stablecoins, not Bitcoin. Bitcoiners are just confusing the market. You are digitial gold, that's it.

The biggest mistake the Ethereum community made over the past few years was neglecting to compare ourselves to Bitcoin, non-stop. The result? I would guess 90% of normies think Bitcoin is home to stablecoins and DeFi. 100% think ETH emissions are higher than BTC.

Yesterday was a great day for stablecoins! Not the GENIUS ACT. But the launch of Liquity V2 on Ethereum! 🎉 Centralized stablecoins like USDT and USDC dominate DeFi. Decentralized stablecoins like BOLD and LUSD are 0.4% of the total stablecoin market. 😱 $BOLD = cypherpunk!

Bitcoin has escaped crypto's orbit. It's now just "digital gold." BTC is not even trying to be a transactional currency. It's mined by large corporations and bought on centralized exchanges. Coinbase manages custody for most users. It has one use case: hodl. Cypherpunk? 🤣

Your friendly reminder that decentralized and semi-decentralized stablecoins combined make up just 4% of total supply. 96% are fully centralized, corporate controlled. It doesn't have to be this way. But we need to stop using USDC and move to BOLD, LUSD, crvUSD, GHO, etc.

I flagged the crazy KYC process at Coinbase in May 2024. I was shocked I had to send highly sensitive info to a team in India that had very little understanding of crypto. Their questions were non-sensical. They were incompetent. As I wrote, a data leak would be a disaster. 🤷‍♂️

I think a blockchain freezing funds is fine for an L2, if advertised that they will take action against "bad actors." Users on that chain should plan accordingly. But for an L1, it's like crossing the Rubicon. You cannot easily go back.

This is why we DeFi. Not to beg for favorable stablecoin legislation from the same lawmakers who support genocide. But to create a fair, transparent, inclusive network for global finance that exists beyond centralized control.
