House Republicans’ budget bill defunds Planned Parenthood completely for all services, including family planning and cancer screenings. This is a terrible idea. I introduced an amendment to strip that section from the bill during our markup. People trust Planned Parenthood.

The Republican budget moving through Congress would defund Planned Parenthood nationwide. We saw this play out in Texas in 2021: thousands lost preventive care and reproductive services. Defunding Planned Parenthood doesn't save money — it costs lives.

When Texas removed Planned Parenthood from Medicaid, patients immediately struggled to find care. Clinics couldn’t absorb Planned Parenthood’s volume, increasing wait and travel times. If doctors near you don't accept your insurance, coverage means nothing.
