Our #MachairWind team hosted a #STEM workshop at Port Ellen Primary School with Primary 1 & 2 children 💚 The activities aimed to bring #OffshoreWind projects to life in the minds of pupils & hopefully spark an interest in some future green careers, possibly in offshore wind!

Another fantastic author visit today organised by Islay Book Festival with @nadineaishaj sharing her journey as an author, the importance of representation in children's books and how to write a poem! Really enjoyed the session and fab books!📚🏰🐈⬛


We are delighted to see two of our children’s winning artwork as part of the Islay Book Festival art competition in Ionad Chaluim Chille alongside Dietmar Fingers exhibition.


Thank you to Scottish Water West for coming to visit us today. We loved getting to see the new pipe work going in the village and learning more about the #watercycle and what happens to toilet paper once it’s flushed!


Today we visited the Kildalton Cross with Museum of Islay Life and Open Virtual Worlds to learn how to preserve our digital heritage. The carvings on the cross may be being affected by climate change and lichens.


P67 have been commended in the KewGardens Endeavour competition on the Secret Life of Trees. The judges said "This guide to Islay’s temperate rainforests is informative, shows good research skills, and includes some wonderful photography." 😊🌲🌳 Argyll and Bute Council Education Service STEM @ Education Scotland


P3/4 went foraging for seaweed today with islayheritage. We identified different species and discussed how to forage responsibly. We learnt about the nutritional value of seaweed & we made carrageen which got mixed reviews! Learning through Landscapes SSERC Early Years and Primary Team


What a super Big Breakfast we had this morning with all of our grown ups. Thank you to our amazing Breakfast Club and kitchen ladies for making this possible! £100 will be donated to STV Children's Appeal


The whole schools has had great fun this week taking our maths inside photos, imagining exciting adventures for Finn Finity and learning about famous mathematicians for @mathsweekscot @countingbute

For our Museum of Islay Life Open Virtual Worlds Heritage project P67 have been learning about the Kildalton Cross. They created an animation of the story of the cross and sang the Gaelic backing track Seallaibh Curaigh Eòghainn, thanks RCS WACI Argyll and Bute Council Education Service
