Much discussion about benefits of outreach teams in mental health. And promises to “learn the lessons” from the Nottingham tragedy - a phrase that infuriates families. But the real question is why we unlearned past lessons & what this tells us about future safety. 🧵

On world mental health day, beyond all the ‘it’s okay not to be okay’ & clichés shared, pls remember those of us who are constantly trying to manage & deal w/ the stigma of having severe mental illness I am not ashamed to have schizophrenia, but it does come with challenges

David_Shiers makes a v. powerful point about how disempowered he felt as a parent in the mental health system, (even with his privileges as a white, articulate, healthcare professional who was used to being listened to). A feeling that's never left him. We must do better #CMHP24
