Sayers Black Pit. The first pond restored by NorfolkPondsProject way back in 2011. It had its highest ever water levels this year as seen by the high water line in this photo. Plants are coming up tho & it is already a riot of bird life in the middle of an arable field
Did you spot this New Scientist article by our CEO Jeremy Biggs_FHT and Technical Director Penny Williams? They urge us to pay more attention to the smallest freshwater habitats, which could help us reverse the decline in freshwater biodiversity: newscientist.com/article/mg2623…
A great time presenting at #2024SFS showcasing my work on the ecological responses to river restoration in the UK. Thank you to SFS Students Freshwater Science for allowing me to share my work with your members #rivers #restoration #ecology #freshwater
Awesome to present my PhD research on #sediment #ponds and their #biodiversity value within an #agricultural landscape #sfs24 Freshwater Science. If anyone missed or have an additional questions come find me or drop me a message! 🪲
Had a lovely day yesterday with David Whitfield pretending I'm a geomorphologist & appreciating the Peak District views! 🏞️
Super-hectic day with Prof Carl Sayer Helen Greaves NorfolkPondsProject setting-up the Pond Restoration and Science course. It’s a sell-out too! #EcologyTraining #Ponds
This afternoons Pond Restoration and Science field visit looking at a landscape approach to pond restoration. #EcologyTraining #Ponds Helen Greaves Prof Carl Sayer NorfolkPondsProject
An inspiring 2 days learning about pond restoration, creation and resurrection. 💧🐸🐝 Ponds really are such a huge hit for biodiversity! With thanks to Prof Carl Sayer Helen Greaves NorfolkPondsProject Freshwater Biological Association (FBA)

I learnt about pond creation & restoration across 2-days with Carl, Helen, Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) & NorfolkPondsProject Also, a massive shoutout to Ponderful & Freshwater Habitats Trust for their awesome work as well!
Narrow clawed crayfish invasions are likely to spread across most of Europe but some range contractions in areas experiencing high future temps. Lovely paper led bh MSc student/incoming Faculty of Biological Sciences PhD James Hodson, with Simone Guareschi & Tomasso link.springer.com/article/10.100…
