The gift I give my future self is to be brutal about holding on to paperwork, reflections, planning, and some such “just in case”. YMMV

I like this display note from MuseumofLondon for its reminder that spellings evolve (no matter how dearly we may cling to the idea of ‘correct’ usage). I make this note on usage to myself every time an apostrophe gets lost or wanders (and still secretly fix it – the struggle!).

Right now is a really hard time to keep up for so many teachers. To help out we're offering this unit... about 5 weeks of daily lesson plans, adapted slightly from our Reading Reconsidered Curric. to all teachers. They focus on 4 stories & 3 poems: teachlikeachampion.com/blog/a-hard-ti…

**Learning loss or learning decay?** A year ago our writing assessments found that Year 7s were 22 months behind expectations. Not great! But we predicted they might bounce back, & that the issue was learning decay, not learning loss. One year on & we've assessed them again.

A study of 355k UK primary school students finds reading achievement in one year predicts maths achievement the next year more strongly than the other way round suggesting "acquiring good reading skills is highly relevant for developing mathematics skills" bit.ly/3OYL2I5
