This years experiment black beans strip cropped between corn. So far it looks promising with just a few pigweed escapes. It is more challenging than strip cropping corn and soys

I have always struggled with the ROl of cover crops . I think it’s going to pay this year. The same variety on the same farm both notilled one into an overwintering legume cover crop and the other into soy stubble.

Combined my strip cropped black beans. They yielded a less than the block planted black beans. I will have to crunch some numbers to see if works better than strip cropped soys.

Finished corn yesterday combining a variety plot. Thanks to Michele and Dan King for weighing off this plot. This corn was no tilled into a cover crop and the field had biosolids applied last fall. We were fortunate to receive some timely rains.

Happy World Soil Day! This year, we celebrate the importance of healthy soils for healthy cities, highlighting the role that soils play in making our cities healthier and more resilient. Once we pave over our soils, it’s a slow, complex, and costly process to get this critical
