At the DDO Consultation it is good to meet these excellent women who are a loss to the @SeeOfRochester for the Dioceses of Truro and Derby. Happily both serving as Assistant DDOs.

It is very easy to follow an earthly leader or a system rather than Christ. Consider some of the well-known leaders of recent years who have destroyed ministries, others, and themselves. We seem inclined to follow whoever glitters rather than carefully discerning their character.

A great day exploring what vocations God may be calling to. Here Victoria is leading the session on calling in the Bible at today’s It’s Your Day in @SeeOfRochester. If you missed today the next IYC is the next time you can apply to come is 12th October.

I don’t know whether polling stations are like children - and you’re not supposed to have favourites - but this is definitely one of mine - Arnold Cooke Hall in Tudely, right next to All Saints Church with its Chagall windows. #GE24

Responding to systemic abuse begins with facing the truth. Jesus lived as part of a dominated group of people under a pervasive system of government. All the religious systems were corrupt. They dehumanized people, isolated & excluded people, & crushed people with heavy burdens.

Drawing: Possible causes of your problems. I've been appalled at the scenes we've witnessed over the last few days. It's utterly unacceptable that people should have to live in fear because of the colour of their skin. [Polite comments only, please.]

Abuse of any kind comes from the heart of the person who abuses. It is not due to the victim’s behavior, clothing, wrongdoing, or anything else - the perpetrator is exposing the contents of their own heart and mind - their actions speak about them and them alone.

Great talk on #clergy wellbeing from Liz Graveling at the Clergy Support Trust AGM. Highlighting four challenges impacting the wellbeing of clergy: exhaustion, isolation, demoralisation (eg not hitting centrally-set growth targets) and financial stress caused by inadequate stipends.

So often, rather than suffer involvement with messy injustices and corrupt systems, we choose the quiet/easy way, and sin against Justice himself rather than allow the suffering of others and the injustices they live with daily to alter our schedules, comfort level, & tidy lives.

It is very important for all of us to remember that telling an abuse story, facing the truth, and expressing the deep and painful emotions that keep company with trauma takes tremendous courage.
