🧵1/9 NY is the only state to ignore #publichousing in its ERAP program. Other states prioritized those most impacted by the pandemic. Many #publichousing residents were confused about whether they could apply for ERAP due to language NYS Senate Democrats and NY Assembly Majority wrote.
4/9 President Donald J. Trump & Treasury Department purposefully underfunded NY, but the state found hundreds of millions of $s to set up supplemental ERAP programs: one to cover rental arrears for private landlords, even if they already evicted the tenant, and another to assist high-income tenants.

Works like "Grenfell," at St. Ann's Warehouse, challenge the unjust and harmful systems in place. We've seen, again and again, that tragedy can create change. But it shouldn’t have to. We should be able to change systems before tragedy strikes, in warning rather than mourning.
