dining out in melbourne tonight for the first time in months — #vic finally reached the vaccination target 243 days after Not ScoMo received his jab. @GregHuntMP said we were at the front of the queue… he lied. only scott was at the front of the queue.

Lovely words from Michael Bodey for Fran Kelly this morning. He is right; we must thank Fran for her unwavering support of the arts over these years. I, for one, will miss her.

49 years ago today the Australian people threw out a lazy, incompetent and complacent LNP government and made Gough Whitlam their prime minister. I remember the euphoria, the intense feeling of national renewal. Let us hope history repeats itself.

To world media did u know Australia only country in world that indefinitely detains refugees, that’s spent 3x annual global budget of UNHCR (to help 70 million) people to lock up a few thousand refugees. Or that 45 people have died in our detention centres since 2010. #Djokovic

Novak Djokovic was wrong in seeking entry while unvaccinated. Tennis Australia was wrong in giving him inaccurate info. Aus govt was wrong in using him to gain political points. All these things can be true at the same time. Which is why EVERYONE is looking bad right now.

If the Djokovic decision looks capricious, arbitrary and politically motivated, that’s because it is. The Migration Act allows for this because it was designed so refugees lives could be destroyed for political purposes. It must be amended to provide fairness and natural justice

My thoughts on the spectacle of the self styled rude police having a performative tantrum in response to ⁦George⁩ declining to waste her public platform #auspol theguardian.com/australia-news…

We are deeply saddened to learn that our dear Janine Shalom has passed away. She was a loyal, devoted, deeply committed colleague and also a wonderful friend. Janine was the press rep for the very first show I ever produced at the National. 1/3
