Q: I have young children of my own how does that affect the types of children you might place with a foster carer?

A: each case is unique, a social worker will meet with you to understand what is best for your family.

Q: what about employment? Do you prefer foster carers weren't working.

A: if working we would look to place more independent young people. Carers need flexibly to attend meetings etc so we need to plan carefully

Q: how do pension contributions work for foster carers?

A: foster carers are not 'employees' and are not part of a pension scheme. Carers would need to make personal arrangements.

Q: How long does the assessment take and when might we get our first placement?

A: We aim to complete assessments within 6 months but lots of variables. First placement dependent on right matching, no fixed timescale

Q: what training and development is available for #fostercarers in #Peterborough?

A: Our comprehensive package has courses to suit new/experienced carers, delivered flexibly so training opportunities are easily accessible

Q: can foster carers maintain contact with children leave care?

A: this is encouraged. Very important to have continuity in children's lives. Birthday cards and Christmas cards etc very common

Q: Do you place children from other areas with #Peterborough #fostercarers?

A: No, #Peterborough foster carers only care for Peterborough children
