It’s important to remember that the current diagnostic criteria for autism describe distressed autistic people, yet it’s perfectly possible to be autistic & thrive.

This morning Siobhán Uí Dhálaigh gave a truly excellent presentation for AUsome training on authentic autistic inclusion. The concept that shone out was Belonging. How can we ensure a sense of real belonging for autistic people at school, in work, in society?

There was so much love, emotion and quiet but devastating power in Elaine Mcgreevy ‘s conference presentation for AUsome training on Exploring Emotions. I have never ‘felt’ someone’s words in that way outside of poetry. Extraordinary 🙏

We want to thank everyone involved with the AUsome training Minding Autistic Minds Conference. We are committed to listening & learning & events like this remind us of how much more we could be doing. It’s also been beautiful to watch an event run by & for the autistic community

We know that the assessment process for adults can be awful, so we try to do things differently. We’re constantly striving to improve & our client feedback tells us we are on the right track. James’ wife experiences a lot of anxiety & so we wanted to make sure she felt safe

Tests aren't the ultimate measure of success & they don't define our worth. Our minds are unique & our strengths go far beyond what can be measured on a test paper. There are alternative paths to success that work for our strengths & interests. #Autism

Got my copy! Out June 21st I’m so happy to share the next book I’ve doodled for Laura Kerbey ❤️❤️❤️ So much insight and an authentic voice for young people to relate to. Demand avoidant or not this will be invaluable to every neurodivergent household raising a teen. JKP Books

Eliza, an illustrator who used drawing to process her emotions around her family’s awful experiences of school trauma, is offering a webinar on how you might draw your story (even if you can’t draw!) ✍️

I have made a 20 minute video of my talk at the Autism Show yesterday on the topic of recovering from burnout. It is aimed at autistic young people, but parents and professionals said it was helpful for them too. You can watch it here: youtu.be/l_LA35VXv9g?si…

Can you help James and his family raise money to save a music project for neurodivergent people in the SW? Good Luck on your walk James, I hope it doesn’t rain TOO much! 🥾
