Kudos to the #OurHealth study group for their initiative to bridge the knowledge gap in #cardiovasculardiseases among South Asians. Despite being 23% of the world population and having a 2X higher risk than Europeans, they're underrepresented in research. #healthequity

My conversation with Pradeep Natarajan on preventing cardiovascular disease is the new Ground Truths podcast —how low to go for LDL cholesterol? — apoB, Lp(a), polygenic risk score, CHIP, role of inflammation —new RNA drugs [sorry, link is in my profile due to X-suppression]

Is the ⬆️ ASCVD risk in #SouthAsians genetically driven? DNA is not destiny, but there are genetic pathways implicated in ASCVD RFs. Nice review of genomic studies, pharmacogenetics, & integration of these into PRS to improve risk prediction led by The Osler Medical Residency 🌟Abhi Gami

Thanks Chittur Sivaram for allowing me an opportunity to highlight this important issue and for the fantastic discussion/Q&A after my talk! #SouthAsians are 25% of the global population but carry 50% of the #CVD burden. CAD occurs 10 years earlier, is more aggressive and diffuse – we
