The dichotomy is wrong. 40 years after Peter Diamond's work on search theory, more work is needed to bridge the gap between macro and micro.

Who has more market power, the board of OpenAI or the superstar CEO? Since the market for the superstar CEO is so liquid, it could be the CEO who fired the board. #search_friction_matters

We have a work-in-progress 1st year PhD textbook. First half (almost done) is written by the four core authors, and the second half is written by each field’s experts. We have the 1st year PhD students in mind - meant to be the core materials, not the survey of the frontiers.

We are still considering submissions for the workshop. We extended the submission deadline to April 15. A change in the workshop program. Guillaume Rocheteau will be our keynote speaker. Again, papers in the workshop can be considered by an EER special issue.

Submissions are open for our special issue of the European Economic Review on "Market Power: A Search-Theoretic Approach". You can submit anytime between now and 1 December 2024, but earlier is better! DM me with questions. Guest editors Petr Sedlacek Shengxing Zhang Nicolas Petrosky-Nadeau
