Firefighting aircraft need their space. If unauthorized drones or planes are flying near #wildfires, emergency response teams may have to ground water bombers. Don’t delay critical work. Stay away from active firefighting operations.

Nipigon 5 is now measuring 10,816 hectares in size and remains not under control. The recent change in size is due to growth on the northeast flank toward Winisk River Provincial Park. FireRangers are actively working to establish hose lines, supported by bucketing helicopters.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Type 1 and Type 2 wildland firefighters, overhead staff, and flight crews, Kenora 20 is now being held at 36,043 hectares - one month after it was first confirmed. This means the fire is not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries.

It’s #TreeTuesday! Jack pines are true fire-adapted champions. Their cones fully open under the intense heat of wildfires. When a stand hasn't faced fire for decades, it releases decades' worth of stored seeds, ensuring regeneration. Without #fire, jack pines could be rare!
