There are so many green spaces in our towns and villages that are over-mown or sprayed, but which could instead be boosting biodiversity and bringing nature back into our lives like this corner of Cambridge. RT if you agree 🐝

We would love to be able to sort the path out here, we have tried raising it as an issue but it's an uphill battle to get noticed. We will persevere to try and get it sorted next year. Happy Christmas all from TRIG.

This is what our rivers could look like if we: 💥enforced our existing environmental regulations 💥forced our water industry to put public service before profit 💥rewarded our farmers to protect nature 💥punished the perpetrators & sponsors of ecocide 🎄Merry Christmas all🎄

Interesting rubbish collection on our workparty yesterday...including remains of a wet pour playground surface and an electric saw. It seems more effort to dump stuff on Tipside than to take to Eastwood, but the wet pour would elicit a charge I suppose.

The footbridge at Hey Street remai s closed. TRIG have been liaising with Town Council on this. It seems Jupiter Investments who own just the river wall have taken it upon themselves to close the bridge, despite the inconvenience to local people, but hey.. what do they care!

With the Chair of the Environment Agency being wined and dined during water company 'lobbying' it looks like time to bring the Corruption Control blogs back out. The Agency staff and public deserve better than this murky set up. wix.to/mjYjmLH

King cups or marsh marigolds looking great in the swale, there will be colour here now most of the summer as different plants come and go.

This might be a blue mint beetle....certainly a beetle of some sort...on dead loosestrife stems. Once we got our eye in we found dozens. If you can give us a better ID, let us know.

The timber fence alongside the Calder on Tipside is finally failing, maybe 40 years old? TRIG put the railings in in 2004 with lottery funding looks like another bid needed.

Despite the bitter weather, there are signs of Spring on Tipside, this is sweet cicely, of the cow parsley family with a strong aniseed small to leaves and seeds, there's quite a little on Tipside.

Delighted that wild garlic is spreading on Tipside...its ideal habitat for it. The first plants were guerilla planted by someone unknown...Thankyou!

Deep in the undergrowth of the goyt are lovely things if you go hunting. This tiny toadstool is called fairy ink cap, related to shaggy ink caps but much smaller. Quite common, but probably overlooked unless you are an elf or fairy looking for shelter!

Seek out the greater spearwort in the goyt on Tipside, its not been recorded anywhere else in Calderdale and is rare in West Yorkshire. It likes Todmorden though! We don't know how it got here, not introduced by TRIG, must be by entirely natural methods such as birds.

Important work TRIG does on Tipside is Balsam control. If we didn't fantastic plants like rare greater spearwort, brooklime and valerian would get shaded out. Help us balsam bash next workparty Monday 17 June 10.30. Meet by Rose St footbridge in Tod. Wear sturdy shoes.

Greater spearwort fills the bottom of the Goyt this year, certainly the most abundant we have ever seen it here. This is one of the few places in West Yorkshire where it's recorded. One of several uncommon plants on Tipside, thats why we carry on looking after this special place
