It's day 1 of #Museum30 for 2024! This month we'll be posting to daily themes. For those who don't know, Old Treasury Building is a free museum in Melbourne focusing on the history of our city!

It's day 3 of #Museum30 and we're looking at #fabric. Did you know, the carpet design throughout the building was based on linoleum found during the restoration in the 1990s?

Over the years the OTB has maintained many historical traditions, including lighting the building for special occasions! Once gas lights we now use LED, to maintain the building's #glow! #Museum30

On the 25 of June 1847 Melbourne was declared a city by #letters patent. At the time it was part of New South Wales. It would take another 4 years for Victoria to become an independent colony and the gold rush would begin soon after. #Museum30
