Last week, a boat carrying migrants and asylum seekers sank off the coast of Greece. Over 500 are presumed dead. Neither Frontex nor the ΛΙΜΕΝΙΚΟ ΣΩΜΑ intervened in a safe and timely way, despite the boat being obviously unseaworthy, overcrowded and in distress.

I call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Middle East to ease the epic human suffering. Too many lives - and the fate of the entire region - hang in the balance.

It is time for the European Union to ensure that Israelis and Palestinians are accorded the same rights, irrespective of their religious beliefs or the nationality indicated in their passports. #EuropeanUnion #Peace #Justice
