Our proposed amendment to the Mental Health Bill requiring practitioners to improve identification and support for children in the family when detaining someone under the Act received cross-party support in the Lords yesterday, thank you Baroness Keeley of Worsley (also on BlueSky) for tabling the amendment.

A really important amendment. Many of the young children referred to in the Lords debate will be young carers but at present, this is all too often missed. An  APPG report (Nov 2023) highlighted young carers having to wait up to 10 years to be identified. This needs to change.
