We must challenge stigma and misconceptions surrounding invisible disabilities. Many folks live with chronic pain, a learning disability, or chronic illness. We all deserve to live with dignity! #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek #EndDisabilityPoverty #WeAreThe27Percent

Food is a right - no one should have to choose between rent and groceries! We joined North York Harvest, ACORN Canada, and community partners at Queen’s Park (“Queen’s Park on Notice”) to demand fair wages, stronger social assistance, and rent control. We stand together for change.

For years food bank clients have said the #1 reason they have to use the food bank is the high cost of their rent. Yet the data in our Who’s Hungry Report, released in partnership with #dailybreadto, show it isn’t getting any easier for our clients to afford to live in Toronto.

Did you know❓ 📍 In Kitchener, a Syrian refugee family’s rent jumped from $1,900 to $4,000 in just one year. 😓 For newcomers rebuilding their lives, that’s not just unfair — it’s an impossible financial burden. The 2018 Rent Control Exemption leaves newcomers exposed to

70 food banks across Ontario have signed an open letter calling for Bill 60 to be immediately withdrawn. More hunger and more homelessness — that's what this bill will really mean for our communities.

#Bill60 will likely be passed this week, and it will grow homelessness across Ontario — something our food banks, shelters, and municipalities do not have the resources to address. When you wonder why encampments are growing in your community, remember Bill 60. My remarks:

🏘️✊This National Housing Week, we invite you to meet and discuss with your neighbours about how the 2018 Exemption is impacting you! 🟣 Are uncontrolled & skyrocketing rents making you feel unstable and insecure in your housing? 📈💸 🔶 Do you feel like you’re delaying life

I had a great meeting with DailyBreadFoodBank and North York Harvest to discuss the great work of food banks in our communities and explore ways we can work together to better support residents in York South–Weston. Thank you for the vital work you do to help families in YSW and across Toronto.
