#BeattheHeat and HYDRATE! Bump up your beverage intake – plain water is best – and try to keep ahead of getting too thirsty. It’s also important to be aware that alcoholic and sugary drinks can accelerate the body’s dehydration: on.nyc.gov/3VqwEg2.

A drawing signed 139 years ago today begins our story of this gate house. By 1890, water flowed through it from the New Croton Reservoir to Central Park and NYC’s water mains. Taken out of service in the 1980s, it began to serve a new purpose in 2006 as the Harlem Stage. #tbt
