Condolences to the family and friends of Statesman Journal sports reporter Pete Martini who lost his battle with cancer today. He was a tireless advocate for Salem area athletes including former Ducks Gabe Matthews and Aaron Zavala. Rest in peace Pete.
A pillar in our community and an absolute champion for high school sports, Pete Martini was also one of the kindest and most pure souls you’d ever meet. He spent his life doing what he’d always wanted: to cover sports for the local paper Statesman Journal. Rest well, Pete.
