The top committee of state lawmakers rejected an attempt to refile emergency Covid rules for schools this afternoon. The previous IDPH rule expired Sunday, and the agency tried to refile it late last night. JCAR voted 9-0 against that rule.

There is NO school mask mandate in effect in Illinois. A state legislative committee - including Democrats - voted not to re-instate the Covid protocols today. Watch 25News after the Olympics for what's next.

The appeals court also wrote - "Thus, none of the rules found by the circuit court to be null and void are currently in effect" They also wrote the previous ruling "..in no way restrains school districts from acting independently... in creating provisions addressing COVID-19."
