This eerie & very rare image shows the face of an Iron Age British man. It dates to between 50-20BC and was found in a cremation burial near #Welwyn, #Hertfordshire, #England. It was one of three small bronze models of men's faces that were the decoration on a wooden bucket.

#RomanSiteSaturday 1st c Roman theatre in the heart of Lisbon. Thought to be constructed during Augustus reign & renovated under Nero’s. It would have held ~5,000 spectators at the height of use. It fell into disuse around the 4th c, buried by an earthquake, & rediscov in 1960s
