The 6th-12th grade Science Articulation ROCKED 🪨 (literally)! We engaged in a full day of experience & learning about ch 3 &4 of "Ambitious Science Teaching". Goals for productive talk and talk moves are now part of what these teachers are CRUSHING in their daily routines!

We had a JAL Smash-Up 💥 where our elem & middle teachers connected on ML strategies by playing some games (with sentence starters)! Strategies transcend the grades.. multiplying the good through sharing with one another! Can't wait to do it again!

Helping 4th/5th grade students prepare for the ACCESS test! We did an experiment, explicitly taught speaking/writing expectations, tracked their ideas, and followed up with each as we continued to practice with a 2nd activity on gummy bears! AMAZING work (and the kids loved it!)

This snowball fight (at only the teacher this time) was an engaging check for understanding!! He even had a small shovel to scoop them up and check them over. ❄️

Gah!!! These 8th graders are utilizing their personal resources to help with their understanding and success on a challenging math problem.

We had some guest speakers (our Language Development Coaches) come to discuss the importance of oracy for all learners in all grades! We did a recall activity AND a circle debrief 🗒️. They taught us SO MUCH!

The NISE conference is always full of great ideas and things to noodle on.... this year, WE were part of the learning and sharing! Science is the PERFECT place for us to engage our ML students in their learning and help them feel success!
