📢📢JOB Announcement!!! 📢📢 SmithsonianMarineStn is hiring a contract Coral Biologist (postdoc equivalent). Study the effects of ocean deoxygenation on reef-building corals in Florida with me and my team! App materials due Feb 10th, see post for details. DM with questions

FINALLY published the main work from postdoc that finished end-2018...can now properly 'move on'😮💨 The work explains how bottlenecks to early coral recovery are context-dependent along an environmental gradient doi.org/10.1002/eap.25… @WAMSInews Biodiversity and Conservation Science CSIRO

How can we open up reef research to new locations & researchers? See how we are doing so bringing the #CBASS portable lab for the 1st time in Mexico to carry out bleaching experiments The Barshis Lab ODU Biology Dept. Cinvestav DRESSELDIVERS bit.ly/3HB07eh 📷 Nick Evensen

Very excited to share our latest #CBASS paper (#openaccess) w/ Christian R Voolstra, The Barshis Lab & colleagues! link.springer.com/article/10.100… It was an incredibly exciting dataset to work on, looking at thermal thresholds of 4 coral species at sites along the entire length of the Red Sea!

💣💥 We are looking for a Coral Lab Coordinator to take care of these beauties in our facility in the Dominican Republic 🤩🇩🇴 PM me ‼️ spread 🙏🙏 Wave Of Change Iberostar JOHANNA CALLE Camilo Cortés-Useche Megan Morikawa

A new study led by Old Dominion University postdoc researcher Nicolas Evensen, Ph.D. & ODU Biology Dept. Associate Prof. Daniel Barshis has highlighted the novel use of rapid experimental tests to identify heat-tolerant corals across large regions. Read more below odu.edu/sci/news/2022/…

Our study on coral heat tolerance is out now in Global Change Biology! We looked at how heat tolerance varies among coral reefs and species across a large seascape. Marine heatwaves played a big role in heat tolerance potential. Link to paper here: doi.org/10.1111/gcb.16…
