because OP is right! most of these terms are used in misogynistic ways. saying that because a male character is emotional, nurturing, etc, he’s “female-coded” or has “malewife” energy IS rooted in misogynistic stereotypes about women and wifehood. that’s just a fact!

no one is saying you have to stop using those terms. just be aware. babygirlify your favorite male character. call him a princess. but that male character was not written as “female-coded”. his struggles may overlap, but he does not experience misogyny on or offscreen.
