As someone who doesn’t really care about Superman or DC or Zack Snyder or James Gunn or the #DCU or the #snyderverse, it’s fun to watch idiots who have made it their entire personalities eat other online over fictional movies about a guy in blue tights punching stuff.

The very last image in Superman seems specifically designed to hit me square in the feels. James Gunn and co. have made a wonderful, bighearted film that fully delivers. While not perfect, it’s a bright, funny, exciting story that honors #superman’s themes in all the best ways.

It’s wild that in the original WIZARD OF OZ novel, the ruby slippers are silver, Dorothy is like 9 years old and is recruited by the Wizard to do a hit on a political rival, and at the end her 3 kill squad buddies all become unelected dictators. Some adaptations are improvements.

Directing kids can be incredibly difficult. Even talented youngsters are still restless, easily distracted, and unsure of what’s expected of them. Not every kid is a Haley Joel Osment. Eggers may not have, say, Spielberg’s gift with young actors, but he’s got other strengths!
