The NC State Putnam team placed in the 82nd percentile out of 477 institutions in the 2024 William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, the top undergraduate math contest in the U.S. and Canada. Blan Morrison, Mason McElroy, Coleman Hines, and Everett Tucker were top scorers.

The Association for Women in Mathematics hosted SK Day this past Friday, in honor of Sonia Kovalevsky. They had students ranging from 6th-11th grade come and participate in workshops to help them see what math can look like outside the classroom.

On Saturday, April 12th, Dr. Erik Bates and grad students: Brandon Koprowski, Bobby Jarrell, and Troy Larsen brought the fun of math to the STEM Fair. This is an event for K-12 students with disabilities and their families and friends who are interested in learning more STEM.

The academic community is mourning the loss of Dr. Nicholas Rose, Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Department of Mathematics, who passed away at the age of 101. Dr. Rose led the department from 1968 to 1977.
