WHYY puts part-time employees and employees with dependents in frighteningly precarious positions because they do not offer affordable health care benefits for part-timers and dependents.

Our starting wages are not the only problem - it's that people languish for years (for the few who last as long as Kim) at unlivable salaries - salaries that are so far behind the quality of work they produce (and her work is amazing).

For too long WHYY has acted as though because we believe in the mission of the station, that alone should sustain us.

Why do we need a fair and equitable WHYY Union contract at WHYY? When I covered city hall for the station in 1984, I was 31 and made $16K/yr, about $42K in today’s dollars. I loved the job. (1/4)

I only got on Twitter for my union and now we finally have a contract!!! being Twitter incompetent was worth it!

When I tried to talk to mgmt during union negotiations about establishing an official delegation that could meet twice a year (TWICE dude!) to discuss ways of improving the station for JOCs, they told me that I was lying about how bad the situation was. They called me a liar.
