We performed #immunopeptidomics (HLA peptidomics) analysis on the same tumors, which led to the identification of 248 HLA-I and 35 HLA-II peptides. Some of the bacterial peptides were shared between different metastases from the same patient, or between different patients.

We validated the entry of bacterial species to the melanoma cells in culture, using immunofluorescence staining and correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) analysis

Melanoma cells: magenta, bacteria: turquoise, nucleus: blue

Importantly, some of the peptides were able to elicit an immune response by tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) isolated from the same tumors
