Back to School Night for year 15!

A former student’s parent was my bartender tonight—always an interesting situation! But it was so nice to catch up!

Kansas City Ethnic Enrichment Festival in Swope Park! Such an amazing event! When Palestine walked on stage at the traditional clothing fashion show, the crowd erupted into applause and cheers! Such a beautiful moment!

First picture is my first classroom. I taught in that room for 9 years, and this picture was year 8. We took our students to a Renaissance festival every year, so that was our theme. 2nd picture is my 2nd school, and 3rd is my current school. 4th year in this room! #Teachersof𝕏

First day ✔️ Only had one kid freak out and yell and leave the room…all because I told them there are place values smaller than the ones. I guess I’m a, “lying trickster” for saying decimals exist. 😂

This was the activity that sent one over the edge🤣 sorting cards that place values written on them. They had to put the cards in order. That’s the only direction I gave them. The other groups had some good conversations about it!

Ozzie is not handling back-to-school very well. He’s been very much a Velcro cat every evening!

Oh, and…we had a parent incident at drop off that required police, and then our principal went into labor. It was quite a day 🤪
