A beautiful afternoon to gather & learn how to weave a basket from locally sourced pine needles 💚 Andrea Wijayakoon Phillpotts (she/her) generously shared the knowledge gifted to her with our Richmond Environmental Educators (a local chapter of EEPSA) in the fabulous Homma Elementary gazebo. #sd38learn

For National Indigenous Peoples day, EFP12 & BCFP12 RA McMath did a reconciliation field trip, #ReconciliACTION by pulling out invasive English Ivy so that local plants can grow more freely. We made baskets and detergent from the pulled plants!

Even heavy rain didn’t dampen our spirits on our RA McMath Outdoor Ed camping trip: campfires, s’mores, card games, walks by the river, Werewolf games, and tent shadow scenes.

How would you survive in the backcountry with an injury? Outdoor Ed students RA McMath learned essential skills this weekend with Coast Wilderness trainers. So much fun!

How can invasive plants like English ivy and holly be used for good? This week, REEd environmental teachers Richmond Schools made wreaths from these troublesome species.

Reconciliation in action RA McMath in EFP10 & EFP12. Students pulled out invasive English ivy to make room for Indigenous plants like lələc̓ʔəɬp or Oregon Grape. A tree or two was saved from the choking vine, as well.
