The UMS assistant principals led their grade level 2nd term Town Halls today. Messages included respecting others, social media pitfalls, hands-off policy, Chromebook expectations & cafeteria behavior. I ask for UMS parents to further these discussions of expectations at home.

Congratulations to Jonas Blake Shaw as he was the UMS 34th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration award winner! The UMS community is so very proud of Jonas!

This is what happens when you allow a focus group of middle school students to select their next MTSS reward...thanks to Mr. Gaines and Mr. Weisman for "growing" the worm population into the thousands for the event today. These little friends will now live in our school garden.

Neon Nights 8th Grade Dance was a blast! Awesome DJ, students enjoying themselves and help from the best staff and parents to make it a night to remember!

Big thanks to Jeff Seymour of FCPS security for training us on the updated security camera system! A safe building is the foundation of successful teaching & learning! The updates to cameras and software are exciting!

Here are some samplings of the Hawk Nest door decorations. UMS had some amazing entries this year. I did start to notice a theme in some them that @Mrs_Brdecka is appreciating.

Our SRO, Deputy Kay, is an important member of our school community. We always appreciate it when he joins in on the fun, like recess basketball!

From starting the day in the car rider line with Mr. Kibler, as Santa, to all of the grade level staff v student basketball games, it was a fantastic last day before break! We hope all of our Hawks have a cozy winter break with their families. See you in 2025!
