A P2 group continued with a rhyming theme this week. We enjoyed a rhyming story, then sounded out and wrote down some rhyming words. We hunted for rhyming words then made rhyming chains @MissRamsay_CPS @P2MCPS1

A group of P4 pupils were practising when to use 'ch' and when to use 'tch' yesterday. They worked well to apply the rule. @MissLucasCPS

A P3 group had fun practising the 'ew' sound and some common words. Musical spelling....when the music stops, find a space and write the target word. @MrsJohnsonCPS

Another P3 group continued to expand their vocabulary today. We revised 'angry/ pleased' words and introduced different words for 'bright and dull'. Miss Hood

Our Dyslexia Champions were hard at work today going over iPad accessibility features they can share with younger pupils. We also heard back from another school's pupil group to see what they do to support dyslexic learners. Dyslexia Scotland

Some P2s were practising sounding out/ writing words with various digraph sounds. We are really confident with short vowel sounds & loved writing on the desk! We talked about how we can use our fists to help us remember the shape of b and d. @MissRamsay_CPS @P2MCPS1

Some P3 pupils were exploring when to use the different written versions of the 'ou' sound today. Quite a tricky rule to remember @MrsJohnsonCPS Miss Hood

It can be hard to separate the start of a word (onset) and the rest of the word (rime). Some P2s were playing onset and rime games to help practise hearing and separating the sounds.@P2MCPS1 @MissRamsay_CPS

One group of P3s impressed me today with all the new words they have retained and are trying to use in their writing. Miss Hood

Another P3 group was doing a sound search to get quicker at spotting short and long vowel sounds. They were also revising different representations of the long i sound. @MrsJohnsonCPS

Some P3s were recording themselves reading sentences with 'magic e' words, they then listened back and wrote down the sentences. They then used the 'CUPS' strategy to proofread their work. @MrsJohnsonCPS
