Knowing the great people that keep this club running, this brilliant statement doesn’t surprise me Genuine, transparent, full of dignity and integrity. Ending the statement with the below, just further shows the class of the individuals at this club 👏🏾 gofund.me/ca778c3b

It’s so sad that it’s come to this, but we deserve so much better and it’s time we started challenging those at the top to do better! #HerGameToo

Less than 1% of academy players ever play a single minute of first-team football. So, what happens to the 99% who don’t ‘make it’?

Great read. Especially liked this bit; as valuable as it is to have the clarity of defined philosophy/structure, there has to be enough freedom built into that to a) account for individual player tendencies and b) empower them to make decisions themselves re context of the game

The question I get asked most is “have you got any good drills?” As Jose says here, it’s not the drill, it’s what you’re looking for and how you apply it. I’ve got loads of good drills. That I’ve created. This drill here. I came up with it today. Because I had a vision of what

Totally get this argument and it’s a fair one, though it’s interesting that teams continually try risky passes with their shape wide open ≈25 yards out from their own goal when losing it often leads to a goal within 6 seconds

Eric Harrison’s ‘ball routine’ made side on positioning, scanning & movement to receive a habit - Paul Scholes typical simple explanation is gold dust - get side on, see the ball & your forwards & play to your best players as soon as possible - Pirlo clips are the perfect example

I see a lot of games with build up play where players seem to be following a pattern rather than looking for the most hurtful forward pass If you scan in priority for your CF first, your wingers, 10 or mf players will be in view so it’s easier to choose the best forward pass

Great example of ‘gaining advantage in flow’ - the pass inside for the run across the defender’s flow then the turn ‘against the defender’s flow’ to pass wide to the fb running (flowing) in to the ‘vacuum’ that the run inside left 🎯❤️🔥⚽️

Enjoyed spending today at St George’s Park attending the Annual Technical Masterclass from the LMA/LCA. Always thought-provoking to see top coaches at work & was great to hear in real-time their rationale behind each part of each exercise. Great day ⚽️📚

Well this is cool. 7 years after I took this pic at Manchester City of a lad getting Andros Townsend’s shirt after the match, it’s appeared on a Crystal Palace tifo at Wembley at the start of the FA Cup semi final #cpfc

Wiegman’s five finals from five tournaments is a magnificent record. Progress this time has been unconvincing but she always stays calm, thinks on her feet and makes decisive - and often unconventional - adjustments. nytimes.com/athletic/artic…
