With all these statues coming down, we need to replace them with other people. I support more statues for the usual heroes; King, Malcolm, Tubman, Truth, etc. But I’d like to nominate a lesser-known figure: Benjamin Lay. If you don’t know, look him up.

REMINDER: Americans didn't like John Lewis when he was protesting w/SNCC. Americans didn't like Ali when he refused to go to Vietnam. Americans didn't like Colin Kaepernick when he took a knee for police brutality. Freedom fighters don't do stuff to be liked. They do it for JUSTICE.

The school principal sets the tone for a school. A tone of intentional risk-taking and innovation or a tone of rigid compliance. It is the principal who can stifle creativity, imagination, and risk-taking or empower staff to find their greatness.

Last week it was found that children seeking asylum were being detained in hotels by private contractors and deported without hearings, lawyers, or due process. The Texas Civil Rights Project & ACLU just ensured they’ll have access to lawyers. Congress must investigate these detentions.

We should all call onto Congress to investigate the detention of innocent immigrant children held in hotels by unmarked/private contractors. And also ask what Hilton Hotels is doing to press the issue.

Black on black crime is a myth. It’s rooted in racism, in an attempt to cast black ppl as animal-like criminals. The overwhelming number of crimes against white folk are perpetrated by other white folk. Why? Bc we live in highly segregated communities. It’s just crime.
