For context, Sen. Eichorn won by a large margin in his last election in 2022 but the Republican got to the State Capitol by beating an incumbent DFLer back in 2016 in a very close election.

Senate Republicans statement regarding reports on the arrest of Sen. Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids):   “We are shocked by these reports and this alleged conduct demands an immediate resignation. Justin has a difficult road ahead and he needs to focus on his family.”

The votes are increasing to expel Sen Eichorn, now Sen DFL says “There is no place in the Minnesota Senate for someone who engages in such abusive and predatory behavior.”   We are prepared to expel Senator Eichorn if he does not resign."

There is no record of the Minnesota Legislature ever expelling a member, there have been several attempts. Legislative Reference Library confirms “but we are only confident in our records back to 1986.” So this would have been historic. #mnleg

Former Sen. Eichorn’s nameplate has been removed from his desk on the Senate floor following his resignation minutes before a vote for his expulsion was scheduled.
