This half term Year 1 have worked on using their geographical skills to improve the quad. Today the children worked as a team to dig, plant flowers 🌿and create bug hotels 🪲🐞. We can't wait to reveal the improvements we have made. @HIAMrsSmith @HIAMrRichards Humberstone Infants

In 1CN we learnt all about the seasons and hibernation. We conducted experiments to find out which clothes would protect us in different seasons and used that knowledge to build shelters that will protect hedgehogs from the cold winter. 🦔 @HIAMrsSmith @HIAMrRichards #STEMWeek

1CN went on a great trip to the Newarke Houses Toy Museum yesterday. We learnt how to recognise toys from the past and the present and we had lots of fun sorting and playing with the old and modern toys 🪀 Humberstone Infants

Year 1 had such a great day at Twycross Zoo today. We saw lots of different animals and told a zookeeper all about our PBL project I was so proud of the children who shared their published work about 'How humans have contributed to animals endangerment'. 🦧🦓🐅 Humberstone Infants

On Tuesday Year 1 were so delighted to be invited to a tea party by Sophie from The Tiger Who Came To Tea! The tiger gobbled some of our treats so we left it some tiger food in case it ever returns. 🧁☕️🐯 Humberstone Infants

Last term each Year 1 class published a book about animal endangerment as part of our Science PBL project. Today the books arrived and it is amazing seeing them on our bookshelves. It was such a joy to share the book with the children at story time today! 📖🌿 Humberstone Infants
