Another great student made game. They are playing “Jaguars.” The trainer kicks the ball, and the jaguar needs to go get it. It was great to see students explain the game to new students who joined and watch them patiently wait for their turn in line.

In preparation for Remembrance day, we read the story, “The Peace Book.” Students shared what means means to them. Final display to follow. Thank you Mrs. Mac's Kinders for the wonderful idea.

We have continued our exploration of sorting. We have learnt that you can sort the same group of items in different ways. We explored this a few different ways. We completed a hat sort, a car sort and a letter sort. Can you figure out what our sorting rules were?

We are learning that writes can draw and label a picture. Students enjoyed tracing the puzzle piece, adding the details and labelling parts of the picture.

Inspired by the story “Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox,” students made plans to create their own animal puppets. We are learning to add details to help identify the animal.

After reading the story “Mouse Shapes,” we worked as a group to co-create a picture using 2D shapes. Students then enjoyed using the 2D shapes to create their own pictures.

After making our amazing puppets M.H and J.S came up with the idea of making a puppet theatre. Students had to design a plan. We then came together as a group to share our ideas. Students worked in small groups to compete different stages of the project.

Today was a wonderful day of baking in Kindergarten. We read the story “The Gingerbread Man,” followed by baking with Chef Ms. B. When we went to go check on our gingerbread, we noticed it escaped!!! The hunt for our missing Gingerbread started immediately!

Students have been exploring patterns. This week we have been using snap cubes to recreate and represent patterns we find on candy canes. Students have also been creating their own loose parts patterns.

Students have loved playing with their new big blocks this week. The creativity has been amazing! Our focus for the week was to learn the planning process. This helps us to build detailed structures with a purpose and problem solve through challenges.

Our board game was great for purposeful practice of one to one counting and quantity. Students also had lots of opportunity for developing their turn taking skills.

We have begun our exploration for the zones of self regulation. As we learn that we all have feelings, students are using emojis and loose parts to show how they are feeling.

Thursday was our first day skating. Students had so much fun trying a new skill, and for some, improving their skating skills. So much perseverance from these Kinders. It was a wonderful activity to bring our community together for some great physical activity.
