The federal government wants to take money from poor people and give it to literally the richest people. It’s wrong because it’s incredibly stupid, but more so because it is a moral failure.

Powerful to see thousands of Vermonters show up today in peaceful protest. I saw alot of joy today, and that is what will keep us going. #nokings now, not ever.

I’m no great fan of the ACA. I believe we should guarantee health care as a human right through a single-payer Medicare for All system. But — at minimum — we cannot allow Republicans to destroy our already-broken system by doubling insurance premiums for 20 million Americans.

Thank you Sen. Bernie Sanders. Vermonters are already feeling the burden of Republican cuts to healthcare subsidies. We can’t trust the people who use hunger as a weapon against their own constituents to protect our healthcare. Democrats should vote against this bogus deal.

I want to congratulate Lachlan Francis on his election as the chair of the Vermont Democrats. Lachlan understands the importance of showing up and organizing those who feel left behind in every corner of our state. I look forward to working with Lachlan to deliver a Vermont we can afford.
