John Horgan’s death leaves us with heavy hearts. John loved this province and its people. He sought to build a better, stronger British Columbia for everyone.   His beloved wife, Ellie, and sons, Evan and Nate, are in our thoughts and prayers.

Today, British Columbia lost a remarkable leader, and we in the BC NDP lost a dear friend and mentor. John Horgan dedicated his life to public service, to the people of British Columbia, and to the principles of fairness, compassion, and integrity.

When I was elected, my son was struggling with me being away. Premier John Horgan showed up unplanned to play Pokémon and to tell him why he needed me in Victoria. He cared for his colleagues families as much as he cared for families across BC. Sending love to his family❤️🙏🏾

To those of us who knew him, Dan was so much more than a colleague — he was a friend and a mentor. He was smart, funny, thoughtful and honest. But above all things, he was kind.

Dan Coulter was one of the best people I've ever met. He never forgot his working-class roots. He was the underdog. He never let that hold him back. He dedicated his life to standing up for underdogs. The world is a much poorer place without him.
