Beth Ann Nichols They need to have faith in their own players and their own product. Relying on sponsor exemptions to "draw attention" to the tour betrays an absolute lack of faith in both. People aren't idiots. They'll watch if it's good.

Beth Ann Nichols And I think the player in question was there to bolster the social credentials of the Pelican Golf Club brass, not to draw attention to the LPGA Tour. I doubt any of them are gullible enough to think that this type of attention is actually beneficial to the tour in general.
