I completely agree with all of this. As vitalik.eth says, "A government that is trustworthy today may not be trustworthy tomorrow." This is true of companies & individuals also. We've already been way to lax on privacy in our industry.

Recently I was targeted by an extremely sophisticated phishing attack, and I want to highlight it here. It exploits a vulnerability in Google's infrastructure, and given their refusal to fix it, we're likely to see it a lot more. Here's the email I got:

Two books I just read with essentially the same message: We've forgotten how to build in the west and a poisonous mentality and politics of scarcity and degrowth has taken hold on both the left and the right. For the left that scarcity manifests as we've got to use less, slow

This is why KYC is useless. The criminals have our drivers license scans. They have AI tools that can generate fake images and videos. KYC puts our identities at risk, makes onboarding more difficult, and rewards criminals.

With the Genius Act moving closer to passage, here's a breakdown of why barring interest payments on stables to appease the bank lobby is headed for economic and political disaster, in 3 acts. Act 1: Onshore regulated stablecoins are green lit but pay no interest. Offshore

The EVM is IMO the most secure and usable of all the crypto VMs. You can convince yourself of that by comparing the e2e devex of a Foundry user vs anyone else. The verbs you care for: Build, test/fuzz, docs, verify, sim against forks, trace, debug. Doesn't even come close. The

I am becoming convinced the people at the previous SEC under the Biden administration are essentially the Alex Jones' of financial regulation. It's all insane disconnected sound bits and deranged theories that collapse upon investigation. I'm just waiting for someone from that

Privacy in particular has value within DeFi apps, not just for deposit/withdraw/send. Privacy can help protect against frontrunning, liquidation sniping, hacking and physical coercion. Remember: privacy is freedom, privacy is order, privacy is progress vitalik.eth.limo/general/2025/0…

"I want New Yorkers to learn their lesson the hard way." Stop. No one will 'learn their lesson'. Rents will go higher, policing will get worse, and life will go on. People didn't learn from the C.C.C.P. They're too incurious to learn from modestly lower quality of life in NYC.

Tomorrow, 12 jurors will decide whether writing open source code is a crime. This case is about Roman's future and it is also about whether developers can be held criminally liable for immutable smart contracts they can't control. The precedent here is terrifying. If Roman is

The SEC's new "Project Crypto" is the most bullish thing I've seen in a long time from a regulator. Read the speech, it's incredible: * Almost all tokens are not securities * Want to discourage decentralization kabuki theater * Americans should not get excluded by IP/VPN blocks
