Love that there’s never a dull moment at our school 🤪 When 1st grade’s 101st day of school also happens to be the same day as 2nd grade’s Chocolate Day 🌈 #323learns

My students start each math lesson with a quick review, what we call “Math Warm Ups.” 1 day is focused on place value, 1 for spiral review & the other 3 are for fact fluency. Get the fact fluency Seesaw activities here docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Reading campout for #ReadAcrossAmerica. Put out a pop up tent & Ss wore camping gear. Our day consisted of read alouds, camping themed directed drawings, math review & brain breaks. Sent Ss home with a treat & you’d have thought I gave them a million dollars they were so excited

Welcome to what I refer to as meeting week, my week each month of union meetings with admin, school board meeting, staff meeting & union meetings with building reps. It’s a lot but being able to support teachers is dope. Took a quick porch nap & now I’m off to a board meeting 🌈

I’ve really enjoyed having a vocab word wall so that we can review the terms all year. I can say “I think this word is a synonym with a word from Each Kindness…” & the kids all start looking to figure out which word it is. Ss use the terms much more than in the past 🌈

Events from this week: book fair, spirit days, union contract negotiations, rti meetings, end of the year assessments, and “full moon”-like antics 🙃… now I’m ready for a 😴 weekend before the last month of school officially starts 🌈

I picked up this book 2 summers ago & instantly went about changing my vocabulary instruction. For me, this book was the perfect balance of “here’s the research behind…” & “here’s what it looks like in the classroom.” If you’re looking to revamp your vocab, get this book 🌈

If your feed is like mine, you’ve probably seen a lot of info on the #scienceofreading 📚 This book is a great introduction if you want to learn more. It’s an easy read with scenarios, ways to “shift” thinking, practical applications, and some of the actual research behind it. 🌈

The transition to early childhood special education has consisted of a lot of boardmaker, cutting out 1000 visuals, and stocking up on Velcro. Here’s the snack time plan for my students as they work on their communication goals 🌈
