I’m so sad. I’ve just seen that independent bookshop Black Gull Books in East Finchley is closing today 😢. What a complete shock. I really despair of what’s happening to our highstreets. Here’s my little painting of it I made during the first lockdown.

New painting just finished. Maison Bertaux, Soho, London. Acrylic on board, 30 x 40cm. It’s been decades since I’ve painted people but I really enjoyed the challenge.

My last painting had me reminiscing of this lovely commission of its neighbour, The Coach and Horses, Soho I painted in 2022. I bet pubs will be glad when Dry January is over. I personally don’t like Dry January because I need something to get me through these grim dark days! 🍷
