I've read through the comments and opinions. As much as I didn't expect this post to go viral, I'm glad that it is sparking up conversations around discrimination in this manner. I wrote to emphasise that a child should not be forced to identify with just one tribe.

That I chose to switch my third name doesn't take away my Yoruba blood. It will not make me throw away my father, throw away my surname or leave Yorubaland. Never. Neither will it stop me from identifying with my mother's people. That "forced" loyalty died in that stadium.
