First Graders continue learning about digital citizenship this week. Today we talked about what to do if we see something scary online.

After reading King Midas in the classroom, 3rd grade students researched the California Gold Rush to find out more about the real "gold fever". I was so impressed with this class!

First grade is doing a new inquiry project. Students are researching another culture and will create a poster with their findings. I was nervous about implementing this but the students were amazing!

PreK listened to There Was a Cold Lady who Swallowed some Snow and then colored a winter booklet by the “fire”.

I read Finding Winnie to 1st grade and we talked about why authors write stories. Then, students wrote about their favorite part.

Kindergarten students listened to If I Built a House and then built inventions with LEGO pieces. Making connections to Social Studies and Benchmark Advance in the library!

Well we didn’t beat Chris Baugher record of 62 but 35 people for the first Media check-in was amazing!

Kindergarten and First Grade listened to me read A House for Hermit Crab then they used Wixie to design a new house for hermit crab! Thank you Scott Loomis Tech4Learning for helping me set up student accounts! Check out some of their designs!

Grades 3, 4 are 5 and using Nearpod to learn how to be good digital citizens! Everyone did a great job participating. I love the new Collaborate Board and voice record features!

Everyday a student sends me and a few other teachers a google drawing with a motivational message. I look forward to them each morning!

This week I have had 100% participation in using Wixie with my 2nd grade classes. Students are adapting and learning online!

This week, Kindergarten students listened to The Little Shop of Monsters and then designed their own monster.

When a student says “that was some good teaching Ms Walsh let’s do that lesson again” 😭❤️

Totally forgot I ordered books from the #rainbowlibrary such a great surprise today when I went into the building!

Last Prek class of 2021 so we talked about winter holidays and made New Year crowns. See you in 2022!

This week in the library: Kinder is learning how to use the touchpad, 4th grade is learning about genres, and 5th grade listened to Dreamers by Yuyi Morales,decorated a butterfly, and wrote their dream for the future.

Did you know Jousting is Maryland’s State sport? I used a lesson plan from BirdBrain Technologies with 4th graders who had to design a lance and program their Finch to knock a ping pong ball off of a cup!
