From new rec centers and affordable senior housing to direct support for caregivers and investments in Black-owned businesses, ARPA is driving real progress across Baltimore. 70% of the funds have been spent, and projects are actively making a difference in our neighborhoods.

It's day two of Budget Week, and City Solicitor Ebony M. Thompson is here to let you know how the FY26 budget supports the critical work being done to protect our residents, support city operations, and build a stronger, safer Baltimore.

. BaltimoreCA is right. The FY26 budget is about making sure that our dedicated frontline workers like Mr. Comegys have access to the facilities and services needed to do their jobs safely.

Tonight, we will hear directly from Baltimore Fire, Chief Wallace on how the FY26 budget will keep communities safe and support our frontline workers on their mission to serve and protect every Baltimorean.

To be clear: by definition, Baltimore is not a sanctuary city. But we are a welcoming city. We WILL remain committed to protecting the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of all of our residents.

The Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) remains committed to ensuring the safety of everyone who lives, works, and plays in our city. OEM’s budget continues to support critical investments in emergency preparedness, response coordination, and community resilience.

These efforts help Baltimore prevent, respond to, and recover from emergencies while protecting our most vulnerable residents and strengthening overall public safety.
