FWIW, if RStudio created an alternative CRAN with its own submissions process (i.e. not a mirror), I would prefer to submit #rdatatable there. We all use their cloud.r-project.org anyway, because it's better. It's the natural next step for #rstats.

Thanks for the reminder. They don't seem to have learnt do they. Big song and dance marketing, and then it turned out they didn't check first, and so didn't use long-standing and well-known (in that case) compress=FALSE, and the result fell apart.

Michael T Young Antonia Hmaidi Matt Dowle #rdatatable parsed timestamp cols as chars previously. Michael Chirico and Matt Dowle added parser for POSIXct type. But we didn't keep it as a default for _backwards compatibility_. This was clearly explained in the NEWS if they bothered to look or ask.
